At El Marakby restaurant in Jeddah, we respect the privacy of our guests and website visitors. This policy explains what data we collect when you use our website — whether to book a table, place an online order, or subscribe to our newsletter — why we collect it, and how we protect it. By using the website, you agree to the terms of this policy.
We collect the data you provide yourself. When you book a table: your name, phone number, email (optional), the reservation date and time, party size, and any notes you add. When you place an online order: your name, phone number, email (optional), the items you ordered, the order type — pickup or dine-in — your table number for dine-in orders, and any notes. We never ask for an address, because we do not offer delivery. When you subscribe to the newsletter we store only your email address. When you comment on a blog post we store the name you choose, the comment text, and your email if you provide one, along with a hashed fingerprint of your IP address for spam protection — never the address itself.
The payment methods available for online orders are cash on pickup, bank transfer, or card through an online payment gateway when it is enabled. For card payments, your card details are entered on the payment gateway's own page and never pass through our website; we do not store card numbers. What we keep is the payment method, its status, and the gateway's transaction reference.
We use your data to manage your reservation or order, to contact you to confirm or adjust it, to send confirmation messages and order status updates, to let you track your order by its reference, and to run and improve our service. We only send you marketing messages if you subscribed to the newsletter yourself, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
We record simple visit statistics on our own servers: the page you visited, the browsing language, the device type, and the site the visit came from — with no cookies and no personal identifier. The restaurant may also enable third-party analytics and advertising tools from its dashboard, such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and the Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, and X pixels; when enabled, those tools set their own cookies and are governed by their providers' privacy policies. You can control cookies from your browser settings.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for commercial purposes. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the service: the online payment gateway to complete card payments, our email provider to send confirmations and the newsletter, WhatsApp Business for order and reservation notifications, and the analytics tools listed above when they are enabled. Internally, access is limited to the restaurant team authorized to manage reservations and orders, and we only disclose your data otherwise when required to do so by law.
We keep reservation and order data for as long as needed to provide the service and to maintain the accounting records required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymized. Your newsletter subscription stays active until you unsubscribe. You may request the deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse, and we restrict access to staff who need it to do their job.
